20% of Men Working Part-Time by 2020
Since 2011, the campaign DER TEILZEITMANN, led by männer.ch/masculinities.ch, has been promoting part-time work as a totally normal career choice—even for men. The success of our campaign is obvious: according to figures published by the Bundesamts für Statistik, the number of men working part-time has been increasing rapidly in recent years.
männer.ch/masculinities.ch is the the umbrella organization of men’s and father’s organizations advocating for gender equality in Switzerland. As advocates for boys’, men’s, and fathers’ issues, we work to ensure that men do not miss the opportunity to participate in the struggle for gender equality—or miss out on its results. Since 2005, we have been pioneers in this field owing to our triple advocacy approach. Results of our work can be seen in the creation of the Swiss Father’s Day; the passage of an equitable law governing separation and divorce; the rapid increase of men working part-time; and ever-growing attention to the care contributions of men—professionally as well as within family settings.
