To palaver means talking with a diverse group of men about crucial topics in life. In the winter months, “Palavers” take place on evenings in six Swiss cities: Basel, Luzern, Thun, Uster, Zug, and Zürich. Each evening event lasts two hours and usually addresses a preselected topic.
Männerzeitung Is Now an International Effort
With 60 issues, the Swiss Männerzeitung [men's magazine] is fairly old already. In honor of its next “birthday“, we are premiering something new: the 61st issue represents the first international issue of the magazine, created by an editorial board editorial board comprising experts from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. All männer.ch/masculinities.ch members will receive this issue free of charge. Non-members are only a few clicks away from joining our readership.
männer.ch/masculinities.ch is the the umbrella organization of men’s and father’s organizations advocating for gender equality in Switzerland. As advocates for boys’, men’s, and fathers’ issues, we work to ensure that men do not miss the opportunity to participate in the struggle for gender equality—or miss out on its results. Since 2005, we have been pioneers in this field owing to our triple advocacy approach. Results of our work can be seen in the creation of the Swiss Father’s Day; the passage of an equitable law governing separation and divorce; the rapid increase of men working part-time; and ever-growing attention to the care contributions of men—professionally as well as within family settings.
